Gift From God

I believe with all my heart that horses are a gift from God. When I say that I do not mean just the horse himself. I am speaking of "horse" being the very escapes of all that entails. The gift includes the passion for equines that is placed in the heart of special people that God has chosen to put the gift there. It culminates in a deep yearning, longing that you cannot explain or describe but it impacts your entire being. You have a passion to touch, ride and move about the animal. It includes wanting to be in their presence and to communicate with them and having them speak to you as well.

There is an art in the movement of the animal that grabs your heart and sends each movement into the realm of music. The melody is heard as well as seen and soon merges into an art form that comes from your insides as well as the horse. Soon you find that your expression and art are found in the very life of the horse that you own, and without that expression you do not feel whole. I really know no other way to describe this gift. I just know that only those who have received this from God can appreciate the totality of it.

My desire to watch horses move and to try to find ways to move them at my communication has taken hold of my heart in ways that often surprise me. This is one reason why I end up with tears in my eyes when I judge or just sit on the top rail of the fence and watch them perform or move in a pasture. One time I got to ride in a jeep in the Horse Heaven Hills with some Indian friends. We were hazing the wild horses and I have never had so much fun and felt such a passion as that wild ride over the hills and rocks. We were never on a road and often would go over the side of a burm not knowing if there was anything solid on the other side. The horses would fly as they ran and seemed to be enjoying it as much as we did.

Well, anyway that is my thought for mulling over today. The artistic expression of horse ownership, "A gift from God".
